The theme of the 2011 WRCEBC Conference is "Saving African American Students NOW". Recent data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and State Assessments indicate that African American children continue to be the lowest performing students. African American students continue to be denied resources, support, and equitable opportunities to learn needed to achieve academic success. Each of us as parents, teachers, administrators, policy makers, business leaders, community leaders , religious leaders, counselors, and paraprofessionals must join hands and work together in order to "save our children".
The focus of the 2011 WRCEBC Conference will be on developing a plan of action to "save our children". Please join us at the 2011 WRCEBC Conference on Friday, March 4 - Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the Manhattan Beach Marriott Hotel.
This year's conference sessions will provide an opportunity for stakeholder groups to use their knowledge and expertise to identify the environment, resources, strategies, and support that must be in place in schools to ensure that African American students are afforded equitable opportunities to learn. Schools are reminded to bring School Teams composed of 3-5 members representing their stakeholder groups ( parents, paraprofessionals, counselors, support service providers, and administrators).
